Skin Care For Younger-Looking Skin

There is no such thing as the fountain of youth but there are natural ingredients that are worthy of the name. However, they won’t make you live forever, they will just make your skin look younger. What are these ingredients? For starters, anything rich in antioxidants are good for you –they make the skin look clearer and relatively younger while they protect the cells from free radicals.  Free radicals are things that damage the cells and they can be quite dangerous because they can cause or trigger cancer so when taking food or supplements with antioxidants, it’s not only your skin that you are protecting, it’s the rest of your body too!

Antioxidant substances include vitamin E, C, A, Selenium, Lycopene, Lutein and Beta carotene. Although a daily dose of vitamins from A to Zinc is important, taking in food rich in antioxidants is also a great idea. The top performers in terms of antioxidant content according to the Tufts University include prunes, raisins, blueberries, cherries, blackberries, strawberries, plums, oranges, red grapes and raspberries. For vegetables, you should include broccoli flowers, beets, alfalfa sprouts, Brussels sprouts, corn, eggplants, onions, spinach, kale and red bell pepper in your diet.

Nourishing yourself and your skin is a very important thing especially if you want to be healthier. Although many doctors say that what you eat will not really affect your skin, it is interesting to point out though that when we eat food that are bad for us, it usually translates to the skin and to the whole system either through a stomachache, an allergic reaction or fever so the “you are what you eat” mantra still stands.

For younger-looking skin, it is best to eat healthy. For those fond of rice, it is best to stick to brown or red rice or ones that are black instead of white. For those who eat bread everyday, whole wheat ones are the best.
