Treating Acne with Aspirin

Acne-prone skin? Try some aspirin. No you don’t have to down the over-the-counter drug everyday, you only have to crush them until they turn to powder and mix a teaspoon of water to make a paste. You would need 10 aspirin tablets to do this. Want an alternative face mask with aspirin? Instead of water, you can use plain yoghurt or for the aloe vera lovers, an aloe gel. Apply it on the face and let it sit for around 15 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. This face mask is not only good for acne treatment but will also get rid of balckheads and whiteheads. Adding either aloe or yoghurt will also make the skin smoother. You would still need to apply moisturizer after you’ve rinsed it off though to ensure that your skin gets all the nutrients it needs.  Your choice of moisturizer also plays a very important role when you have acne. If you have oily skin, it is best to get a non-greasy moisturizer preferably one that is water based.

If you already know how to make the aspirin face mask, let’s move on to making a facial toner with the OTC drug.

You would need half a cup of distilled water, half a cup of vinegar and 10 aspirins. Dissolve the tablets in the solvent mixture, get some cotton, dip it to the mixture and apply it on your face. This is a great toner and will not only tone your face but also works as an antiseptic. After leaving it for a few minutes, you would have to rinse it off with lukewarm water unless you love smelling like vinegar. Don’t know what to do with the excess? Put it in a container and leave it in the refrigerator so you can use it again.
