Taking care of one’s skin is rather difficult especially if you do not know what skin type you have. Although one can base your regimens and skin treatments on your skin type, there are times of the year somehow changes. One good example of this is during the colder season when most of us have dry skin. Of course not everyone has this kind of experience especially those with very oily skin but just to ensure that you do not problems during the colder parts of the year, you should store up with moisturizers. It is also interesting to note that when you’re young and your skin produces a lot of oil, you might say that your skin is oily but sticking to this description 10 years later won’t probably accurate anymore.
So can your skin type change over time? This is a very important question to ask because if you’ve experienced having oily skin when you were younger and then having dry skin later on, this is a question that can come up. One has to note though that such changes from oily to dry are rather natural because the older we get, the less active our sebaceous glands become. It is however very interesting that there are some people who have had really dry skin as teenagers to the point that their skin would just flake off and peel no matter much moisturizer they put on their faces and the rest of their body. Those who have had this experience however also noted that they started getting oily skin later on. But whether or not one’s skin type changes over time, one has to consider that there are a lot of things that can affect your skin and it’s not just your age but also the environment where you live in –how cold or how hot it is there, and what kind of products you’re using currently and how often you go out where you are exposed to the elements. These are just a few of the things that should be taken into consideration and it’s not just about age or change of weather.
