I can say, hands down, this is the absolute best moisturizing lotion for extremely dry skin. This lotion was given to me by my mother for my almost scaly, extremely dry skin, and within a few days of use it made my skin soft, with no dry patches. Although my skin is normal now, I still use it every day in conjunction with self tanner. It keeps my skin evenly moisturized so there or no streaks or darker patches when I apply the tanner.

Side Effects: The active ingredient is 12% lactic acid neutralized with ammonium hydroxide, and it can sting slightly the first few times it’s applied, especially if you have cracks in your skin, but it stings because it’s working, trust me. Caution should be used if applying it to the face, because irritation can occur, especially if you use any anti-aging or retinol products. It makes some peoples skin more sensitive to the sun.

Ammonium Lactate Lotion 12 used to be available only with a doctors prescription, but now you can get at various on-line stores. It ranges in price depending upon the store from $8 to $22. To be safe and make sure I’m getting a bottle that hasn’t expired I pay about $17 for a 14 oz bottle plus shipping. A little goes a long way with this lotion, so a bottle lasts me almost 3 months.

Spider veins don't just appear on your legs as you get older, they also appear on the face., and they can really effect a persons self esteem. There are a couple of reasons spider veins can crop up on the face, sun exposure and rosacia, a skin disorder. They best way to deal with spider veins on the face is with laser treatment, specifically laser pulse V beam. It gets rid of the veins with just a few treatments. The laser works by heating up the blood vessels, making them inefficient and useless to the bodies natural processes, and the immune system naturally clears them over time. The results aren't permanent, however, the blood vessels can reappear, so intermittent preventive visits are recommended.

Everyone is asking what is the difference between the two types of Botulintoxin A and B - Botox and Dysport. I got some feedback from a spa owner who administers both on herself and her clients.

Botox facts:
- average costs $12 per unit
- usually need about 50 plus units for eyes, forehead and brow
- takes effect 5 to 10 days after administration
- effects last about 3 to 4 months

Dysport facts:
- average costs $4 per unit
- usually need about 100 units for eyes, forehead and brow
- takes effect 3 to 7 days after administration
- effects last about 4 to 5 months

Both Botox and Dysport stop the muscles in the face from moving, thus not allowing our face or skin to wrinkle while the toxin is effective. The main difference between the two is price and the amount of actual cc's, or units, that get injected into the face. Since Dysport is about $4 a unit, but you need twice as much, it comes out to be about $2 less per effective dosage. However the quanity od fluid injected in the face is double, so the needle will be in the face in each spot twice as long, about 3 seconds per shot, versus the 1.5 second per shot of Botox. Since either Botox or Dysport regular injections can be pretty pricey, Dysport is becoming more popular, but those that don't like the needle are sticking with Botox.

Not every spa or doctors office that administers Botox offers Dysport, so if that is what you are seeking, ask ahead.

Looks like there is a new wrinkle filler on the horizon, and this one is longer lasting. Merz Pharmaceuticals and Fredric Brandt, a dermatologist in New York City, are developing an algie based wrinkle filler that may last up to 12 months—which is comparable to hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and Juvéderm, which last six months or more. Called MDF-100, it may also cause less swelling than those fillers. Currently the clinical trials of MDF-100 are awaiting FDA approval. The approval could take over two years, so stay tuned.
